Sol Lipkin, 103, of Union died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at the Chelsea at Fanwood. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 27, at 3 p.m. at the Meborah Chapels in Millburn, 2950 Vaux Hall Road, Union. Interment will be private. Born in England, Mr. Lipkin lived in Union for 61 years. He was a sales executive with Venture Shuffleboards, Hillside, before retiring two years ago. He was the first inductee into the Shuffleboard Hall of Fame. He also served as a special consultant for the Dave and Buster's restaurant chain. A member of the American Legion of Union, he was a Seabee while serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Predeceased by his wives, Dorothy (nee Hammond) and Margaret (nee McGee), Mr. Lipkin is survived by his son, Bruce, and his wife, Adrian Lipkin; his son, Eugene, and his daughter, Dorothy Hecklau and her husband Fred; grandchildren, Eric Lipkin, Nicole and Thomas Szarszewski, Debbie, Susan, Jeff, and Billy; and great-grandchildren, Jake, Ava, and Alyssa. He was predeceased by his brothers, Paul, Dave, and Ike Lipkin, and by his sister, Lil Gilzenberg.
