Shuffleboard's biggest tournament, the North American
Shuffleboard Championships™, is just two weeks away. With more than 140 paid,
registered players already signed up, this is going to be another awesome
year for the NASC™. If you are planning on attending, but have not yet
registered, please do not mail your registration, as I will not have time to
process it before I leave for Reno. If you would like to pre-register, you
can still do so online at www.2007nasc.com,
where you can pay by credit card or PayPal. We are pleased to announce that Sol Lipkin has confirmed
that he will be attending the tournament and will be personally presenting
the Sol
Lipkin Award to Larry Creakbaum of Indiana. The TSA Hall of Fame
induction for Fred Thumann has been postponed. Fred was nominated by his
fellow members of the "Sacramento Rat Pack", Nick Chaffin, Joe
Hudson, Bob Hunt and Hal Perry. The TSA voted to induct him as a promoter,
but not as player, because there was not enough information to substantiate
his qualifications as a player. Bob, Hal, Joe and Nick asked for a
postponement so that they can submit a more comprehensive list of Fred's
achievements as a player and have the TSA board reconsider his nomination. We hope that everyone will join us on Friday night for the
tournament anniversary party, which will begin after the presentation of the
Sol Lipkin Award. The party will include a complimentary extensive buffet and
a two hour open bar. Also following the awards presentation is the raffle
drawing. Some of the top prizes in the raffle include sets of Pro Series
Weights®, weight cases, tournament shirts and jackets and a Jacuzzi Suite for
10 nights for the 2007 NASC™. We are looking for donations of other prizes
for the raffle and would appreciate donations of shirts from other
tournaments and/or shuffleboard establishments. After the raffle will be the
$10,000 cash give away, in which 50 randomly drawn players will win $200,
courtesy of the Sands. To give everyone a chance to enjoy themselves and
visit with shuffleboard friends, old and new, no tournaments games will be
played on Friday night. There are still some very reasonable airfares and
room/airfare packages available. The best websites are www.sidestep.com
