Sports Bar in St. Louis, Missouri, was the setting for the Fifth Annual
Columbus Day Tournament. Thanks to all those who participated, especially
our friends from Kansas City, Houston (MO), and Arkansas. Hopefully
they will all be able to join us again next year. So, mark your calendars
now for next year’s 6th Annual Columbus Day Tournament to be
held on October 6 and 7, 2006! |
Taking third place were the seasoned team of Chuck Meuhlhauser and
Mark Gray. They played smart and tough throughout the tournament.
Their final game was a tight 15-14 decision. This game handed them
their second loss, but garnered Chuck and Mark for their Third Place
honors.
Coming in second
were the brother team of Jerry and Larry Romay. These brothers also
played well throughout the tournament. They were handed their first
loss in the second round in a close 15-13 game, but battled back
through the loser’s bracket and overcamesome
very tough competitors. Their final game was another hard fought
battle, but they were handed their second loss in a close 15-12
game. Congratulations to Jerry and Larry for their Second Place
honors.
The team of
Frank Edelen and Pat Marshall breezed threw their first two matches,
but had some close calls after that. In the semi-finals of the winner’s
bracket they toughed out a close match and moved on to the finals
in an exciting 15-14 win. Frank and Pat re-grouped and were victorious
in their next two matches making the only undefeated team of the
tournament. Congratulations to Frank and Pat, our 2005 Columbus
Day Tournament Champions!
There was a lot
of strong shooting and many a game that came down to the wire throughout
the tournament. It was exciting to watch
these competitors shooting so well and to see all the participants
enjoying the camaraderie and good sportsmanship. I’d like to
send out a special thanks to all our out of town participants. Also,
thanks, to Jill Romay, Frank Edelen, Steve Sheridan, and Norma Young
for their valuable assistance. |
