28-29, 2005 Doc's Halloween Costume Tournament Doc's Shuffle InnStockton, Missouri Reported by Carol Tyler |

The Halloween ABC Tournament at Doc' Shuffle Inn in Stockton, MO was held this past weekend (Oct. 27th-28th.) The tournament began Friday night with A players choosing their B and C players. Players came from Kansas City, Springfield, Joplin, and Houston MO, and were well mixed on the 12 teams. Play continued into Saturday with a morning break for the costume contest. Winners of the costume contest were: 1st place Dave Mason and Gary Hagerty as the Blues Brothers, 2nd place Amber Green as Elvis, 3rd place Steve Hinkle as Safety Man (he's wrapped in bubble wrap so he won't get hurt should he fall - as he's been known to do in the past!) Runner-up was Jennifer Frye as Daisy Duke. After the costume contest, Phyllis and Gary Johnson Sr. present Craig "Doc" Bendickson with a plaque to thank him for all he's done for the Stockton people to get them involved in shuffleboard and to support the players. The ABC tournament finished up Saturday afternoon with 1st place winners Charlie Riley (Houston MO), Jennifer Frye and Barn Butler (both Stockton players). 2nd place was Carol Tyler's team (Springfield) with Justin Bendickso (Stockton/Kansas City), and Sherry Sykora (a new players from Stockton.) As always,
there was great food (don't forget to send me that recipe, Phyllis!)
and lots of fun. Play continued into the wee hours and we all managed
to survive the jello shots! |
