Muncie, IN: Forty or so players turned out over the course of the weekend to see the new shuffleboard venue in Indiana. Hosted by Jerry and Mary Hodges, the By-Pass Bar & Grill has the makings to be a great place to play shuffleboard.
A spacious hall (it used to be an American Legion) and spacious parking area, allow plenty of room for large shuffleboard events. As you can see in the picture even with 4 boards to the left, there is plenty of room for more shuffleboard tables and still room for seating.
Twenty-five players particpated in the Friday night draw with the odd man out drawing from the losers bracket.
On Saturday Scott Smitth could not force Glen Ingram into a second game in the finals. Glen finished the day undefeated.
In the doubles on Sunday, locals Scott Resler and John Modglin won the winners bracket but couldn't maintain their momentum. Veterans Glen Ingram and Jim Long came through the losers bracket to win with a double dip.
Special thanks to Brian Walker from Texas for spending most of the weekend with us (driving over from a jobsite in Ohio)
ABC to follow.
Be sure to check out the picture gallery for pictures of By-Pass Bar & Grill and the doubles participants. My appologies for the quality of the photos. The picture resolution slipped to a lower setting and I didn't catch it until play had begun.
