| Fairmount,
IN - Sixteen teams from Bourbon, Summitville, Pendleton, Huntertown,
Ft. Wayne and....Cincinnati, OH converged on the Palace Bar in Fairmount
for an Open Doubles Shuffleboard tournament despite it being one
of the few days of snow this winter. This same tournament last
year drew just 11 teams. This upswing in participation can be
credited in part to the promotion efforts of Glen Ingram from Summitville
and several local teaming testing their skills against the out of
town professionals.
Glen Smith from
Cincinnati drove up to reacquaint himself with the shuffleboard
community. He had been following events online for awhile and took
the plunge after a 20 year absence from the shuffleboard circuit.
Though he had not been planning to play, he partnered with Ann Harrell
for a couple credible games. Indiana and National Hall-of-Famer
Jim Long and Glen reminisced about players they both remembered
from that area (and era!). Here's hoping Glen and his wife can make
it up to several more tournaments, including the April
15th 1.5> Amateur tournament.
Gary Anglin
and his partner were put in the losers bracket by Jim Long &
Glen Ingram but came back to defeat them the second time around
giving Jim and Glen 3rd place. They were unable to force a 2nd game
for the championship and Laggin' Larry Brown and Bobby V went unfeated
for the day. Congrats to LAB and Bobby V.
