Shuffleboard's biggest tournament, the
North American Shuffleboard Championships™, is just five weeks away. We had
a great response to our online registration special. Some of those who
signed up were coming anyway, but others were not sure because of financial
reasons and this incentive package helped to make it possible for them to
attend. If you want to take advantage of this special offer, which expires
tomorrow, there are still a few spots left. Here are the details:
·
Rebate of
your Registration Fee (a $30.00 value)
·
Rebate of
your Board Fee (a $10.00 value)
·
Rebate of
your Pro/Am Entry (a $50.00 value)
·
A $10.00 food
comp from the Sands
·
A $10.00 free
play coupon from the Sands
The total value of this offer is $110,
and it is available to the next 50 players who sign up online by September
15, 2008. In order to qualify, you must play in the Pro/Am and at least two
other events. Upon completion of the third event, you will receive your
rebates and coupons. This offer is for online registration, paid by credit
card or PayPal only.
I would like to take a moment to address everyone who signed up early and
was therefore not eligible for this promotion. I did receives phone calls
and emails from some of them who were understandably disappointed. The
possibility that this offer would upset people who have already registered
for the tournament weighed heavily on me for the couple of weeks that I
pondered doing it.
In the end, I decided that the best thing I could do for the people
who had already registered was to do everything possible to insure there
was a strong turnout. Many of the tournaments in recent months had a
significant drop in turnout. Although there are certainly other factors
that contributed to declining attendance, it is obvious that the state of
the economy hit them pretty hard too.
My primary goal was to offer an incentive that would get people to commit
to our tournament that were still undecided and might not have come this
year. Even though I have felt we would be okay on attendance, especially
with having all of the boards redone, I am not the kind of person who
likes to leave things to chance.
After spending in excess of $20,000 to have the boards refinished, I quite
frankly would have preferred not to commit to such a large incentive program
at this time. But, as I mentioned, I wanted to do everything I could to
insure a successful tournament and I felt like this would help establish
momentum. If I had not done this, and we took the same hit on attendance
that some of the other tournaments have, everyone would have been
disappointed.
Those who did sign up early were eligible for two different early
registration promotions, albeit not quite as significant as the current
offer. Both offered to waive the Registration Fee and Board Fee.
The first was available to anyone who attended the 2007 NASC, which ran
from November 23, 2007 through April 1, 2008. The second, which was
available to anyone who attended any of the previous 18 NASC tournaments,
was available through July 1, 2008.
The best website to check airfares on is currently www.orbitz.com.,
which has a pricing guarantee that is very attractive. After you book your
ticket on Orbitz, they will automatically monitor pricing on a daily basis
until you travel. If fares for the same itinerary drop after you book your
flight, they will send you a refund for the difference. For room and
airfare packages, the best deals are usually at the American Airlines web
site, www.aavacations.com.
